DM 003.1 Rationale

Blood pressure (BP) lowering in patients with diabetes reduces the risk of macrovascular and microvascular disease.

The target of 140/80 mmHg has been set as per the target recommended by NICE.

NICE clinical guideline 87 (2008). Type 2 Diabetes - newer agents (partial update of CG66). www.nice.org.uk/CG87

DM 003.2 Reporting and verification

See indicator wording for requirement criteria.
